Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Royal Bengal tiger. The park is located in the foothills of the Himalayas. The park was the first to come under the Project Tiger scheme.  The park boasts of an impressive bird list of over 550 Species. Besides it has 488 different species of plants, 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals and 25 reptile species. The park is best known for its Tigers and Elephants.

Day 1: An early start from Delhi gets you to Corbett in 6 hours. Alternatively you could take the overnight train the previous night. You drive through the Dhangiri Gate towards Dhikala. The Safari starts as soon as you enter the Dhangiri Gate. Red breasted parakeets, Long tailed Broadbills, Small Minivets, Collared Falconet, Grey winged Blackbird – all show you the way to your  Dhikala Camp. Arrive at Camp, freshen up, eat lunch and head out for an afternoon safari in the Chaur (grasslands) looking at Red headed Vultures, Hen Harriers, Bright headed Cisticolas, Hodgson’s Bushcat, Pallas fishing Eagle along with Hog and Barking Deer and Elephants. Dinner and overnight at the Dhikala Forest Rest House

Day 2: Spend the day exploring the forests and grasslands of the Corbett National Park. Track the tiger, listen to the birds, hear the whistling of leaves – Let Corbett works its magic on you. Overnight at Dhikala Forest Rest House

Day 3: After a morning safari start the drive out of the National Park. Arrive at the gate by the afternoon. You have a choice of driving straight to Delhi or doing an birding extension in the bio sphere area, that offers superb birding – Brown and Tawny Fish Owl, White throated and White crested Laughingthrushes, Lesser and Greater Yellownapes, Common Flameback, Grey headed, Streak throated and rufous Woodpeckers, Green Magpies, Ibisbill, Crested Treeswift, White rumped Vultures, Brown Dipper and Spotted Forktails.

Day 4: Spend the day exploring the foothills of the Himalayas. Overnight in a resort outside Corbett National Park.

Day 5: Move to Nainital and explore the Himalayan birds of Pangot. Overnight in a Hotel in Nainital

Day 6: Explore the birds of Sat Tal region. Overnight in Nainital Hotel

Day 7: Leave for Delhi
